Gillian has been heard to say that she was born with a needle in one hand and a paintbrush in the other. Having a creative mother ensured she grew up around a variety of crafts, from sewing and knitting to drawing and painting. However, Gillian's creative streak became evident at age four when she painted the dog's ears with red felt tip pen. In her teens she studied textiles at GCSE level, confirming her love of fabric, and was often drawn to new crafts that she 'HAD' to try. She has also drawn and painted for over 25 years.
It was only natural that she tried to find an outlet for her talents and with the growth of the internet she found her niche.
Until recently (Sept 2018), Gillian's craft work could be seen regularly on the UK television channel, Create and Craft, via Gina B Silkworks' shows. Her work can also be seen in the following publications:
'Beads and Beyond' Magazine (June 2014)
'Cat Sayings: Wit & Wisdom from the Whiskered Ones' by Bradford G Wheler (Sept 2012)
'The Pulse of Mixed Media: Secrets and Passions of 100 Artists Revealed' by Seth Apter, North Light Books (March 2012)
'Skulls' by Noah Scalin, Lark Books (7 Oct 2008)
She currently lives in rural Scotland and runs her business from the kitchen table. In her spare time she is a frustrated academic with a background in Classical Studies and enjoys walking, yoga, reading and zombie movies.
