Ooooo!

Polymer clay has been playing a big part in my creativity over the last week. Last weekend I made the beds shown below. The photo doesn't do them justice. They are sparkly and partially see through so you can see layers of clay through the translucent polymer clay. This weekend I made more beads, this time in the shape of birds, cakes and acorns. They still need an acrylic wash to pick out the details but I'm quite pleased with the shapes. Now I just have to decide what kind of project to use them on.

OMG, those beads are FANTASTIC! There is such a thing as translucent polymer? I had no idea. I've always wanted to make some things with polymer, just never enough time, seems like. Your pieces look so smooth on the outside, really spectacular. The food items are just darling. Here's a thought that just popped in my head..they'd look great on a chunky ATC with the sentiment, "DIET is a four letter word"....lol!

Thanks Lori. Translucent polymer clay is great. Sculpey do some that's almost glass-like, though it's a bit tough to condition as it breaks up. I actually mix it with Fimo translucent which is pretty soft. To make them smooth I use wet sandpaper from 400 up to grade 800 then I buff them on my jeans. Gives a really nice effect. 'Diet' really is a four letter worrd though. I have to start mine this week. Maybe I should make a chunky ATC to get in the mood :o)

Love your beads!! Did I get you going when I sent you those beetle bugs I made from polymer clay? teehee I made some other things with clay but I didn't photograph mine before I sent them out. Seeing yours makes me want to get out my clay and play some more!! I love the translucent clay and the brand I have is Fimo. It's old and hard to condition, but I do hope I can find some more here when I go shopping again soon. Happy clay day!! ;) Bonnie
